12.1 Supply decoupling

See Figure 26.

The high frequency 220 nF decoupling capacitors connected to power supply voltage

pins 6 and 20 should be located as close as possible to these pins.

It is important to use good quality capacitors. These capacitors should be able to

suppress high voltage peaks that can occur on the power supply if several audio channels

are accidentally shorted to the power supply simultaneously, due to the activation of

current protection. Good results have been achieved using 0805 case-size capacitors

(X7R material, 220 nF) located close to power supply voltage pins 6 and 20.

If a DC-to-DC converter is used to supply regulator 3, the recommendations of the

converter manufacturer relating to decoupling must be followed.
